Borthwick signing confirmed.

Time to open a DBTR2021 thread?

It's good to have that signing confirmed, it sounded like a done deal but there's always doubt until the official announcement. I'll be surprised if he doesn't rediscover his best form.

he has bowled a bit more of late, so that might help. It seems odd that, if all the signings come off, our problems might end up being a lack of bowling quality instead of batting

I usually start the thread off in the new year, WL. it gives me something to look forward to in the cold, dark days of winter

Yes, there's going to be sod all cricket to discuss until 2021 apart from what we'll call the IPL dribble which I'm not remotely interested in.
We have 3 experienced players who are passionately Durham in Borthwick, Raine and Rushy plus Bangers(hopefully) and Eckersley who are thoroughly professional. That is a core that a very strong team can evolve.

and if you are looking for a bit of quality, you can add Lees to that list too. He's impressed me greatly since he arrived last year. Thoroughly reliable and thoroughly consistent

just noticed that we have given Borthwick a 5 year deal

lets hope he doesn't do a 'Harmison'

Yes, but it won't be through a lack of effort with Badger.

DCCC in 2021.Had a suspicion that Scott Steel wouldn't stay. Pity-he's already an asset at T20.
The 2 Scott's swaping clubs?https://www.durhamcricket.co.uk/news-and-media/seven-contracts-renewed-as-players-commit-their-futures-to-the-club/

reading between the lines, Scott Steel probably wanted to play red ball cricket and we weren't prepared to give him any assurances.

he had a stellar season in the T20 in 2019, but i felt we underused him this year and there must have been a reason for that.... it certainly can't be the case that we had a wealth of top T20 players overshadowing him. From top opener last year to 2 chances opening this year before dropping him down to 8 or 9 in the order.... that was very strange and feels to me as though there was more going on there than meets the eye

I'm pleased that David Bedingham signed an extension. There was a fear that someone would poach him, with him only being on a 12 month deal.
