Down by the Riverside 2019

As requested... the all new, but prosaic DBTR

I think Wisden's 7/10, 7/9 and 6/9 is harsh

I think 5/10, 9/9, but KO's in the hit and giggle.

I'd like to think we could challenge for a 3rd place promotion, but to do that we'd have to negotiate 2 matches against Sussex, 2 against Mohammed Abbas and 2 against Wayne Parnell, which feels unduly hopeful....................... plus Onions is bound to make us look silly by staying fit for a second consecutive season in which he takes 50+ wickets and participates in a century 9th wicket stand against us that turns a possible home win into a crushing defeat

The jets are grounded -it's just Durham cricket.

great news imo. Obviously we won't see much of him on the playing side but Franklin is spot on about the influence he can have on younger players.

And FTECB take on this will be very interesting.

Excellent news about Stokes. It certainly will be interesting regarding Leicestershire. The precedent has been set but they obviously can't be relegated or stripped of test matches.

perhaps they'll imposed a punitive promotion and make them host test cricket for free in order to raise money to pay their creditors?

Indeed, and after we released him early in his career, he had perhaps less reason to be loyal than the others.

a 'proper' cricketer

Eckersley has signed a one year deal. Thw squad for Friday's opening match is to be announced on Thursday and it'll be interesting to see if he's in it.

A 1year deal is really just an extended trial. Another to add to our list of potentially good players.

Yep. He's experienced but has a modest FC record although is he a regular wicketkeeper? If he is the average isn't too bad although probably going in the wrong direction if Leicestershire released him - unless it was a financial decision.

A year long deal means they can have a good look at Eckersley ahead of Poynter going at the end of the season (we surely won't keep him as an overseas player)

Perish the thought!
