The Police nearly yet the youngsters of Kurungela get away from them on the third day.

After getting themselves all out for 246 and setting Kurungela 290 to win, they made a bit of a meal of the chase and let their rivals get as close as 16 runs before they managed to overhaul them. Lahiru Diyantha was key with a series of four wickets in a row to gut the middle order and manage to pull the victory out the fire.

The win sees the Police extend their lead at the top whilst Kurungela are in 9th.

The game between second and fourth in the table turned into a wicket frenzy as 19 wickets fell on Day One of Sri Lanka Port Authority vs Nugegoda.

The dockers were all out for 151 - something of a salvage job after being 55-6. Nugegoda then to stumps on 122-9 allowing the Porters to (very likely) take a very unlikely first innings lead.

There were a number of bowlers to laud but SLPA's Rajeewa Weerasinghe 4-45 in 16 overs were probably the pick of the day.

Sri Lanka Port Authority have truly made up for their poor start yesterday; firstly by getting Nugegoda out for 128 to give themselves a hugely unlikely 22 run lead and then showing that they *can* actually bat after all. They go to stumps on 334-6 - over double their first innings score.

Adeesha Nanayakkara, who turns out for Chippenham CC in Wiltshire during the Sri Lankan winter, was their most effective batsman. After a duck in their first innings he got a 136 ball 83 today.

SLPAC completed their comeback win on the final day of their match with Nugegoda - winning the match by a huge 207 runs.

After declaring on 345-9, the dockers then got Nugegoda out for 161 - an unlikely victory when they were all out for 151 on Day One.

Two bowlers took fivefers for the Porters but the sometime Sandyford CC player Chanaka Komasaru's 5-63 in 16 overs was the most economical.

It was the Passport Derby in Sri Lanka this week as Sri Lanka Ports Authority faced off against Kandy Customs.

And Kandy's victory rests firmly in the hands of one man whose all round prowess blew SLPA into the docks. Chirag Khurana got no wickets in the first innings but then got 92 with the bat, followed it up with 6-46 and then rounded it off with a further 86 in the second innings. Not a bad day's work for the Indian.

Then win takes Kandy up to third whilst SLPA are in 6th.

After yesterday's all round performance, Dhananjay de Silva matched it with 110 and 31 and 6-74 and 3-10 as Tamil Union beat Badureliya by 7 wickets.

Back on the trail with this guys again.

The bottom of the pack tussle between Lankan and Negombo should have an interesting last day. With just a 32 run first innings lead, Lankan are now 67-5. If Negombo rattle out those last 5 they could be in for a decent chase.

Ex Bury CC player Madawa Warnapura helped save Negombo's first innings. His 64 came when his team were 67-4. On dismissal he had got them to 197-6.

The Lankan v Negombo innings very much went to form. The last 5 wickets added just 44 runs. 37-year-old left arm spinner Upal Indrasiri got 3 of those to take his haul to 5 for the innings. This left Negombo a target of just 144 which they knocked off in just under 36 overs.

The pick of the action over the course of the fixtures was to be found in the drawn game between Chilaw and Burgher – which also sounds like a delicious dinner. Young Sri Lankan starlet Kamindu Mendis got over the disappointment of his duck in the first innings for Chilaw by getting 150 in the second and getting figures of 13-1-43-4 with the ball in Burger’s second innings. Despite that first innings 0, Mendis' FC batting average is 70.80 after 12 matches (17 innings).

My game of choice this round of fixtures is Chillaw versus the Sri Lankan Army....and on current form the latter team need more drilling.

Chillaw marched to 269 thanks to a top score of 96 from their captain Shehan Jayasuriya on the first day.

Given five overs to see out the day, both Sri Lankan Army openers were given the court marshal for a solitary run. They finished on 5-2.

Seekkuge Prasanna is leading a rearguard action for Sri Lanka Army.

The soldiers would have been very happy with their total of 216 after their overnight score of 5-2, however they were still 53 behind Chilaw.

With just a day left in this fixture, Chilaw came out with a bit more intent but ended the day on 85-5 - with Prasanna taking four of those wickets.

All three results are possible on the last day.

Chillaw claimed the victory but only after Sri Lanka Army threw it away by losing in 5 wickets in 17 balls.

It is Ashan Randika who will feel most hard done by. He scored 133 runs out of SLA's total of 249 (53.41%) in fact when he was out with the score on 218 he had score 87.55%. However a sloppy all round display left Sri Lanka Army stranded 45 runs away from victory.

Chillaw move up to third place with SLA second bottom.

This week's featured game is bottom placed Burgher against 6th placed Saracens.

Saracens will be ruing allowing Burgher to bat first as they ended the day on 319-6. Shanuka Dulaj put some dubious form behind him to register a score of 94 before being out shortly before Stumps.

Ranitha Liyanarachchi rattled through the Burgher tail however the first innings total of 392 looks strong.

Saracens have half their men back in the hutch for 191 in their first dig.

A draw seems likely.

The match between Burgher and Saracens ended in a draw at Katunayake as fast bowler Mohomed Dilshan took 7-42.

As one match ends, Negombo vs Tamil Union started with the West Coast side having the better of Day One. Having elected to field first, Roshen Fernando got 5-31 as Tamil Union were all out for 184. Half of Tamil Union's batsmen were our for single figure scores.

In their first innings, Negombo are already 161 for the loss of just one wicket.

Negombo have an imposing 187 run first innings lead but it could have been a lot worse if it were not for 6-54 from Maduka Liyanapathiranage.

Negombo are 45-1 overnight and lead by 142. The draw is the slight favourite.
