we are the only match still playing. I have no idea what the overheads are like at the ground, but it's as black as a witches hat where I live

Was talking to 668 and apparently Emmerson was wrong about the pitch being saturated and having to make a change. The pitch they're using was the one they always intended to.

I'm his preview of the game the cameras showed a large soaken patch on the square so clearly rainwater did get under the covers.

Yep. Seems to have been some confusion because the umpires and ground staff were looking at those wet patches but the sight screens were apparently already set up for the other pitch. A strange situation one way or another!
Whatever was going on just highlights the unpredictability of this ground- all the signs were that batting would be a nightmare but we have done relatively well. Then the previous home game where it seemed to be the flattest track in living memory. And yet more often than not batting first is guaranteed to produce a low score.

Century for Watling :clap and a useful 27 from Carse. It's looking a fair bit brighter outside so with a bit of luck we might get a decent amount of play.
A second batting point!

So, this morning I predict no play at all only for it to get underway and then when I notice better weather they go off for rain!

I'm going down tomorrow. Weather forecast is decent atm, so hopefully I'll get a full day's play in to end the season

Fingers crossed. Play has been abandoned today - quite an early decision for once so I guess an awful lot of water must have fallen.

Member's forum today has been cancelled. The logical thing would be to hold it tomorrow so we can probably rule that out.

6 o'clock and it's already as black as a witches hat.... it's a daft time of year to be playing championship cricket.

This time next year, though, I bet we'll still have another round of matches to look forward to next week :no
