Only FTECB could dream that one up. Whole format appears very vague-if you fail to prepare, be prepared to fail. Two 'T20' competitions is overkill; so will the public support the proven and popular domestic form or the new Heath-Robinson set up of teams without any identity playing in neutral venues?
It's widely forecast that ECB will stand or fall on the success or otherwise of the "franchise" system. Could well be RIP FTECB.

He perfected them 20 years ago!

I thought it was a belated April Fools joke at first. Some of the journalists on Twitter are saying the new format is down to FTA broadcasters not wanting a 3.5 hour game so FTECB had to find a way to shorten it.
Apparently they'll also have to get the MCC to change the laws of the game to allow them to have the 10 ball over.
Presumably they'll have to also add a new list a category so the stats can be properly recorded.

it isn't actually a 10 ball over, i believe that the other 10 ball are strategy based so can be bowled by anyone, not sure how it fits though, is it spread out or bowled in one go.
in reality it just means the best bowlers bowl their 3 overs + the extra 10 balls or it could be spread out by 2 bowlers.

The new tournament is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2020 and will have innings made up of 15 traditional six-ball overs and one ten-ball over that could be bowled at any point. The proposed idea would result in matches being completed about 40 minutes faster than T20 matches, which, if they go the distance, last 40 balls longer.

TBH I wouldn't believe any of the papers, not sure ECB have even decided the format yet, the release does say more information on the 100 balls would be released later, all they said so far is that the 10 balls would be strategy based and 6 ball overs remain.
suspect all the papers are just guessing what it all means, this news did come as a bit of a shock today.
