I see Carberry is going on loan to Leicestershire for the remainder of the Championship season. Obviously he's going to play for Hampshire on T20 Finals Day. Interesting move.

Word is that Carberry's loan move to Leicester is with a view to being made their captain next season. Had it not been for his return to us for Finals Day next weekend, the loan would - apparently - effectively be a permanent transfer.

I assume that we told him that even in McManus' absence (and Rilee further down the order), we weren't intending to recall him to the side alongside Jimmy.

(Although it potentially leaves us very short vs Middlesex in a few weeks, unless Bailey doesn't end up playing in the World XI t20s)

Carberry out for 18 off 38. As per usual.

8 off 24 second innings.

I love Carbs, I'm grateful for what he's has done for us in the past, I'm happy to see him walk out for us on Saturday at Finals Day, and it's great how he has fought back from serious ill-health twice. But Leicester are very welcome to take him off our hands permanently after Saturday.

Leicester head coach has left the club. I wonder if this will have any impact on them signing Carberry permanently.

There was a meeting of Cosgrove and DeBruyn on Friday with the CEO where clearly the outcome was one of their posts was untenable. Cosgrove stays, presumably as captain. Carberry may well have dodged a bullet there; his age and experience should appeal to Surrey. :hide

I'd take him at Chelmsford...can still do a job...we don't have a lot of depth in our batting could be a useful addtion

I did think Surrey's 200 might be a useful total!

I've been listening on and off throughout the day; sounds like the ball has been doing quite a bit. Surrey got to 200 based on two players; they're next highest score was just 13 (which we've technically beaten, by one whole run). Hopefully these two can hang around for a bit longer - ideally with Bailey matching Patel's efforts - and with a bit of hitting from Berg and Abbott still to come, we can come away with parity.

Not that it should matter mind. I haven't checked myself, but apparently the forecast for Friday is pretty awful. Even at this rate of wickets, 40 wickets falling today and tomorrow seems unlikely.

Big blow right at the end there. Obvious to say, but those two had recovered really nicely.
