Or Bristol. We'd need a good win for Hants and Gloucs to progress. :no

The game being washed out - as it almost certainly will be - actually makes that last gasp Glamorgan win more bearable, as the rain would be preventing us from having a great opportunity to progress - we'd be level on points with Surrey right now, but with a marginally worse NRR.

(Different story if we'd battered Glamorgan though, as we were on course to do at one point, as our NRR would be greater than Surrey's and we'd all be dancing at the rain in Soton and Bristol today).

Would be nice for just once to get through a Championship game without losing a bowler to injury mid-game. It's even worse this time, given that it's on day one and we're playing Crane. If Fidel can't bowl any more, than we're faced with Ervine as third seamer.

(On the subject of Crane though, what exactly were we thinking? There was rain around during the week; indeed, it even delayed the start of the day yesterday. We were also the away team, so knew full well that we had the option of bowling first. So why would we would choose that game to drop a seamer and go with two spinners for the first time? Surely you go Topley all day long?)

Our third dropped catch of the innings; Dawson now joining Jimmy and McManus.

Injuries and awful fielding. Our season to date in a nutshell.

That's a pretty class bowling performance by Abbott. 5 out of 6 of the top order for 60 runs at less than 2 per over.

Indeed. Not that it's going to count for anything.

5 for none. Hampshire are back. Phew, for a few weeks there I was getting these weird thoughts that we might be half decent at last.

Edwards injured again, he's clearly not up to it anymore.

Pathetic response, showing how good the Cook and Westley stand yesterday actually was.

Again though, Solent are convinced that the LBW shout against Westley first ball looked far more out than the one given against Carberry today.

Ball doing allsorts, given the weather. I repeat, what were we thinking picking Crane rather than Topley.

Topley was poor last game and playing Crane is investing in the future I guess.

Time for the Poole lad to show his metal!

Both of which I understand. But you have to pick your team based on the conditions. Even more so when you know you'll be deciding, as the away team, to disregard the toss and choose to bowl first.

We can't even complain too much at being unlucky with losing one of the three seamers we have picked. It's getting to the stage now where you almost expect Fidel, like Wood, to break down.

This over tells you everything about the conditions. Ravi first change? Two wickets immediately? His dobblers must be nightmare to face.

Every wicket makes this innings more and more painful, but equally makes yesterday more and more painful. (If you take out the poor balls that Crane bowled today, mainly to RTD, then we had great success with the ball today too - albeit heabily reliant on Abbott)
