OK, this time I just won't comment on McManus' effort with the bat.

(I know our scorecard in general is awful today, but at least Rilee, Dawson and Ervine all got cracking balls)

Actually today was made for him to come in and get a careful 30 or 40, not to be.

I'm surprised we chose to bat after the last game, and with us favouring chasing, plus there was overnight rain?

Yeah, I don't entirely understand Vince's logic. All our wins have been chasing, and the one time we batted first we lost. Yes we scored 320+ in that one game, but Surrey's bowling attack is head and shoulders above Glamorgan's. And Surrey are a strong chasing team, I believe.

I can only think that given his and Rilee's current form, and the flat nature of the Oval (although it's not been flat today it happens), Vince got over-excited and had visions of us smashing 360 and putting Surrey out the game.

Brilliant 100 from Bailey (and top 40 from Abbott too).

Three centuries in three matches from Hants players. All very different centuries, but each very, very memorable. All wowzers.

How the hell did we get up to 271.

Look, it may still prove to be 50, 60, 70 runs below par. But who cares. We have got something to really bowl at. Get Roy early, and there is every chance we can win this.

And at least if we do lose, at least the NRR swing will hopefully be minimal.

If we win this game, for me that would more than make up for losing the Glamorgan game. (Winning from our position of 89-7 is harder than winning from Glamorgan's position, in my view)

First time I've looked at the score since 89/7, bloody hell fire.

Was waiting for Bailey to fire and my word what an inferno.

We did get Roy early but this partnership looks ominous.

I can guess from the weather we have here, that the batting conditions now couldn't be better.

Fidel deserves that wicket. Yes he's been expensive, but he always will be given his pace (which is why I personally would not pick him for limited overs cricket). But he's bowled some decent balls, and at a bare minimum would have had Sanga if Rilee hadn't misjudged the flight when on the boundary.

In terms of NRR:

Was:

Hants +0.129
Surrey -0.137

Now:

Surrey +0.101
Hants -0.109

If my calculations are correct, we need about an 80 run swing on Wednesday (in addition to the basic position of us winning and Surrey losing). So for example, a circa 40 run win for us and a circa 40 run defeat for Surrey (if batting first - obviously different if batting second, where you don't win/lose by runs).

Pretty unlikely I would suggest, but not impossible. Let down by death bowling, and a lack of middle order, in this competition.

I'll be glad to get back to the CC.

All players seemingly fit again so we should go in with a strong team.

Wood and Wheal the only injuries at present, but then the former wouldn't feature in the CC anyway. (And possibility not the latter too, with the other seamers all available and the weather maybe now beginning to bring Crane into the equation).

Not that it makes much difference, but I can't see a ball being bowled at Southampton today.
