Should secure our survival for another year if we do. For what had the makings of a vey tight relegation battle, given the reduction to eight teams, Warks and Somerset are sadly doing their best to ensure it's a very straight forward relegation outcome.

But god knows what will actually happen over the coming days. In normal circumstances, I would absolutely be backing us to beat them again. But I don't think anyone can describe a day-night four day game using a pink ball as normal circumstances. Could end up being just the thing to kick start Somerset's season.

That's the concern with this round of fixtures - the games could be a lottery where luck plays a major part.

"Do you want to win the toss?"

"No, do you want to win the toss?"

"One of us is going to have to decide what to do."

"I don't even know what XI to pick."

"How about we just hope it rains for four days?"

"Deal"

The further North you are the less you'll be affected. At 9.00 pm tonight in the NE natural light was good enough to play 1st class cricket.
i.e Now that Messrs Willey and Sharp no longer officiate.

True. It's only got noticeably darker here a short while ago so there should be little change in conditions during the day up here.

This painfully slow run rate won't bring any new punters in.

Five out on the last eight. He got run-out for 99 early on, when batting down at (I think) 6 - and injured. His return to fitness coincided with Vince playing for the Lions, so he simply slotted into Vince's number 3. And for some reason hasn't dropped back down since Vince returned. I think he goes at the ball way, way too hard.

He's got class, as his 99 showed and his 140-odd (something around that) against Somerset in the one-day cup. But a top order batter in four day cricket he is not. (Although he hasn't been helped by the openers failing, and his number 3 role almost becoming an opener role).

Three down since high tea.

I could put up with the slow run rate if they were keeping wickets in tact. Dawson out to a ball which kept low. Blimey keeping low at the Rosebowl on day one!
