Not that it will help Wood mind, given that he's now joined Fidel in being injured for the rest of the season. I've pretty much given up caring about our latest injury hit, they're hitting us so often this season. Who next, Wheater?

I used to think Durham had an injury curse but we've been lucky compared to Hampshire this season. Almost unbelievable to have so many injuries only a few weeks into the season.

Started the season with eight seamers. Five of them have picked up serious injuries so far, three of them before they even bowled a ball. Wood is actually the first of them to pick up his injury whist actually doing his job of bowling. The rest have all just been relatively freakish, as were the injuries which the two batsmen (Adams and Ervine) picked up.

I'm just hoping for four days of rain against Notts this coming week. Although no doubt Carberry will slip in a puddle and put himself out for eight months.

So many words I could use about our four day batting, but none of them are not swear words so I won't use any of them.

Either get out scoring runs, or dig in and get yourself to a score. This stuff we've been serving up this season and last, where most the guys hang around for 60 balls without playing a shot before getting out, is awful and not going to achieve anything. Fine, bowlers are allowed to bowl good balls and the conditions on days like today are great for bowling. But surely that just makes it even more important that you take advantage whilst you can? A ball has your name on it at some point, so don't just stand there waiting for it.

60-1 after 110 minutes is only good if it becomes 100-2, not 60-3. And now 84-4.

Wouldn't be a great loss if he did!

Agree that our batsmen can't seem to strike a happy medium between all out attack and all out defence these days. It's something that started with Carberry and Adams and seems to have spread down the order.

Even Vince seems to have been affected and you wonder whether it will put pay to his international career sooner rather than later.

Many people will blame T20.

Which would be completely understand if they were all making 14 off 12. But they're making 14 off 50.

Great day in the field so far. But shock horror, an injury - Ervine is off having hurt his hand whilst fielding.

Might have to get Benks out of retirement at this rate.

Aside from Lancs last time out (where an awful day was served up after a poor start), that's been our season so far. Started behind against Warks, Yorks and Middlesex too, before fighting back in all three. Maybe this time though the fightback will lead to a win, rather than a draw. (Although with no Vince and all our injury problems, I would take a draw).

You just have a feeling that Read will get a big score tomorrow and Notts will ultimately get a lead.

Bloody hope not as I think we have to win this game from here.

I'm merely suggesting that t20 requires a single mind set of all out aggression and the capacity of the modern day cricketer to move between different styles of play required in four day cricket is becoming diminished as a result. Locking into certain modes of play seems to be the order of the day.
