Perhaps it will be a pattern in the innings, two quick wickets followed by a recovery.

Ervine, run out, FFS.

At least let it have been McManus. Batting bonus points could be crucial, so we still need to try for 350 from here, although seems unlikely.

This really is a poor effort by Hants. Players getting in and then getting out on an obviously flat batting track. Smith and Adams at the top are also a waste of space.

Might be nice if Crane could hang around a bit when he bats and get some of those 210 runs back!

Fair dos, at least he's gone on to make a fifty.

Now stay in and get us to 350.

Nope, hopeless, bowled Batty, after he bloody murdered you. Have you not got any pride?

Well done lad, take back a bit of what I said about.

Showed a few of the others up the order a thing or two.

Is it his first hundred? Ideal time to get it if it is.

Yep. I think his 50odd against you guys here last season (when, combined with some rain, he somehow helped us survive to a draw) was his previous high score for us, in any format.

I've been critical of him this season - I don't think he's passed 25 in any format this season, and I'm not even sure if he's made double figures in the Champ in that time - but he's really turned up today. Well done to Wheal too, for keeping him company.

Smith and Jimmy really both better hope that Vince stays in the test team all summer now. McManus has probably secured his place for the season now. Dawson will come back in for Crane, Andrew or Wheal (just shows how flat this wicket is, that we can in a batsmen light, lose both our openers in no time, and still make 400), but it would have to then be a batter to make way for Vince.

Didn't he make two hundreds against the combined university or someone similar in the same game a couple of years ago?

This is definitely his first FC hundred and the tenth wicket is still amazingly intact at stumps.

Great day in the end.

Surrey need to take 11 wickets tomorrow in 94 overs - in this heat, on that pitch, and with 123 overs already in their legs - otherwise it's pretty much as-you-were in the relegation battle (given that Notts-Somerset is also going to a draw). Aside that is, for the fact that Notts and Surrey this represents c17% of their remaining games whilst for us and Somerset it represents c14% of our remaining games.

Yes we both need to take advantage of our game in hand (in particular we do), but whilst they are there, these weeks of everyone drawing suits us both better than Notts and Surrey.

At the start of this season I think. But it wasn't an official first class game. (And even if it was, I'd still be ignoring it, just like I ignore second team runs. Means very little in my book)

Bloody hell, tenth wicket partnership ends with the second run out of the innings, how dumb is that.

Hope it isn't a bad omen.

I think if it takes a run out to end a last wicket partnership lasting nearly 40 overs it means the pitch is a road and/or the bowlers are knackered
