We're so going to be losing him to the lions at the back end of next month :bye. Will miss a game in each format if he gets picked :no.

I wish we'd announce what we're doing with Carberry. Three games in a row now we've named him in the squad, but not picked him. For the two one-day games, I thought it was probably more a case of us resting him, to see if we could refresh him mentally and physically following a poor start the season - whilst at the same time giving the youth a chance. I think it's pretty common that the one day comp is the least cared about by the counties. But I really thought we'd recall him today, especially given he's played in all three of our t20s to date. So maybe he is injured, maybe the shin injury he picked up on Thursday was more serious that suspected. But if so, why did he play on Friday night, and why has he been announced in all three squads since?

If he's fit, I'd have picked him ahead of Best here. Absolutely no need for seven bowlers plus Ervine. And for me Best is the weakest of the seven. (Nothing to do with batting ability between him, Andrew, Berg and Smith. That low down the order it doesn't matter if 11 can bat or not. It's just coincidental that he happens to be the weakest batter amongst the bowlers).

Ok, Solent have said he has a hand injury and can't hold a bat properly (so a different injury to last week). Seem strange that we keep on naming him in the squad then.

Those last two balls have finished us. A boundary and a single, and we'd have been favourites. But Kent are now.

Looks as if they're losing their way since Sangakarra was dismissed.

Yeah they've not got as many as they should have done, but 188 will still be easily enough. No Vince, no Carberry, no Afridi, no chance.

Safe to say we ain't going to finals day this year.

Another abject performance in a season of garbage.

Afridi has agreed to play 50 over cricket for us. So for the next two (I think) games he'll be our overseas player. Then for the remaining four (I think) we'll have the choice between him and McLaren each game.

Anyone got word on Wheater not being in the XI? Injured or just experimenting?

He's got a " sore neck" according to the Sky commentator.

These days I am a big advocate of bowling first in limited overs cricket. Batting has come on so much, that it can be difficult to know what a par score is.

The one flaw in the plan is when your bowlers are so utterly awful, that game after game they bowl first, and lose you the match before you have even had a chance to bat. (Of course then falling to 30-3 in the chase every time never helps either).
