Set an unrealistic 405 to win, Guyana hung on for the draw with 252-7 at the end of the match. Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 69, Leon Johnson 50 and Raj Chandrika 49, while part-timer Roston Chase took 5-77, as the rest of the Barbados bowling proved to be impotent.

The match in the USVI fizzled out into a rare draw too, with the rain washing a good portion of play on the first day. Kavem Hodge hit 105 and Kyle Mayers 58, as the Windwards compiled 389 in their first innings. Offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall took 3-122. Trailing by 62 runs, the Leewards hung on for a draw on 171-8, Nkrumah Bonner topscoring with 46, while offspinner Liam Sebastien took 4-49.

Trailing by 123 on first innings, the Windwards were bowled out for a pathetic 161 all out in the second by medium pacer Raymon Reifer (4-35) and legspinner Dev Bishoo (3-71), veteran opening batsman Devon Smith the only batter offering resistance with 51. Set a paltry 39 to win, Guyana limped to victory for the loss of four wickets.

At Sabina Park, spinners Jomel Warrican (3-49) and Hayden Walsh Jr (3-41) dismissed Jamaica for a paltry 157 all out, Devon Thomas topscoring with 44 not out. Set a mere 118 for victory, Barbados struggled to erase the target for the loss of four wickets.

Hosts Trinidad made 406 all out in the first innings, with half-centuries from Narsing Deonarine (68) and wicketkeeper Steven Katwaroo (50). Offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall took 5-88. Trailing on first innings by 181 runs, the Leewards enter the final day still struggling on 147-5. Under-19 World Cup winner Keacy carty has topscored so far with 59, legspinner Yannick Cariah taking two wickets to date.

"Kieran Powell looks set for a return to West Indies' first-class cricket competition after a gap of almost two years, after he was picked in Leeward Islands' 13-man squad for the Regional 4-day tournament match against Guyana, which starts from March 11. Powell last played a first-class match for Leeward Islands in April 2014. He went on to play the Kingston Test against New Zealand in June 2014 but has been out of the West Indies squad since then. In February-March 2015, he played four first-class matches for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in Sri Lanka's first-class Premier League Tournament. In January 2015, Powell issued a statement saying that mixed signals from West Indies cricket authorities had left him "deflated and confused" as he attempted to return to international cricket after a self-imposed break for the game. This resulted in his decision to step away from the game for some time. In January 2016, he tried his hand at baseball, without much success."

In a rare twist of fortunes, batsmen had the better of yesterday's play on the first day of the ninth and penultimate round.

In a top-vs-bottom clash at North Sound, minnows Leewards piled up 237-3 on the back of 74 not out from Montcin Hodge and 55 from Kieran Powell. Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul has taken two wickets to date for Guyana.

West Indies players Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope hit 105 not out and 52 respectively, as Barbados made 220-2 on the opening day of their match at Couva. The Trinidadian wicket-takers so far are spinners Imran Khan and Yannick Cariah.

Opening batsman John Campbell hit 135 in Jamaica's total of 284-5 in their match at Arnos Vale. For the Windwards, spinners Liam Sebastien and Keron Cottoy have taken two wickets each to date.

It was a series of batting collapses on Day Three, as all three teams were forced to follow on.

At North Sound, pacer Gavin Tonge took 4-37 and offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall 3-59, as cellar-dwellers Leewards dismissed defending champions Guyana for a mere 190, veteran Shiv Chanderpaul topscoring with 48. Following on 240 runs behind, Guyana were 108-2, led by captain Leon Johnson on 51 not out.

At Couva, pacer Kemar Roach took 4-45 and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican 3-44, to bowl Trinidad out for just 226, opening batsman Kyle Hope topscoring with 77. Trailing by 170 runs, the hosts were forced to follow on by Barbados, and they closed the third day of 117-1, thanks again to Hope, who was 67 not out.

At Arnos Vale, legspinner Damion Jacobs took 5-95 and left-arm spinner Nikita Miller 3-70, to dismiss the Windwards for a paltry 233. Following on 212 runs behind, the Windwards 245-4 going into the final day, led by veteran opening batsman Devon Smith, on 125 not out. Jelornie Robinson made 64, while Miller has taken two wickets for Jamaica in the second innings to date.

Pacer Alzarri Joseph took 4-71 and offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall 3-34 for the Leewards.

Barbados narrowed the gap on Guyana to seven points, by beating Trinidad by seven wickets at Couva. Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican took 5-54 and medium pacer Kevin Stoute 4-50, to dismiss Trinidad for 240, Kyle Hope topscoring with 76. Barbados then knocked off the paltry target of 71 for the loss of three wickets, including topscorer Shai Hope for 36.

At Arnos Vale, Jamaica easily beat the Windwards by nine wickets. Veteran Devon Smith made 126 and captain Liam Sebastien a battling 52 not out, as the Windwards were bowled out for 350 by spinners John Campbell (5-106) and Nikita Miller (4-90). Set 139 victory, the visitors knocked off the target for the loss of only Shacaya Thomas for 52. Campbell was 83 not out at the end.

Second-placed Barbados are hot on Guyana's heels, forging their way into a winning position against minnows Leewards at the end of Day Two. Wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich hit 96, and there were supporting knocks from Roston Chase (62) and tailender Kemar Roach (52), as Barbados compiled a mammoth 436 all out. Guyana won the PCL for the second year in a row, with a convincing innings and 55 runs win over Jamaica at Providence within three days. Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Moti-Kanhai took 4-55 to dismiss Jamaica for 231 in their first innings, and, trailing by 189 runs, the visitors were forced to follow on. Spinners Veerasammy Permaul (5-36) and Dev Bishoo (3-43) combined to bowl Jamaica out for a paltry 134 in their second innings, Andre McCarthy topscoring with 21.

Barbados had a similar innings and 93 runs win over the Leewards at Warner Park, showing how much farther ahead of the rest the two countries of Guyana and Barbados are in this format. Left arm spinner Jomel Warrican took 6-102 to dismiss the Leewards for a mere 224 in their second innings, Orlando Peters topscoring with 60.

In their second innings, Trinidad made 243 all out, thanks to 50s from Kyle Hope and Yannick Ottley. Offspinner Liam Sebastien took 5-63. The Windwards have been set a modest target of 166 for victory on today's final day.

Set a mere 166 for victory against Trinidad, the Windwards easily knocked off the target in a battle of the bottom half at Couva. Opening batsman Tyrone Theophile (83) and wicketkeeper Sunil Ambris (54) were the not out batsmen as the Windwards won by seven wickets.

Final standings:

Guyana - 149
Barbados - 142
Jamaica - 85
Trinidad - 81
Windwards - 64
Leewards - 50 (bottom as usual - no surprise there)
