Might be a wasted journey for them, as currently four day of rain are forecast (albeit not non stop).

I'd be quite happy to run away with five draw points and a couple of bonus points. Even more so if Sussex lose badly to Somerset. I'd back us to pick up more points away to Notts, than Sussex away to Yorks. It would just come down to how many more points than Sussex we would need.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Hasn't been much movement, we could be more aggressive here.

Hopefully Dawson and Ervine can get to 350 in 110 overs .....so that's 58 in 13 overs needed. Looks like Sussex are about to get 5 batting points.

Looks like they are trying to go for the 400 in 110 overs! 32 off 20 balls needed.

The four fours in a row from Middlebrook's over helped.

400/8 after 108.4. Astonishing. Never thought they could do that. ...and the declaration on 400/9 . Bowl Yorks for less then 200 now.

We even let Yorks get their 3rd bowling point before declaring. Maybe they'll capitulate in a return gesture!

Given tomorrow's rain (looks like a total washout at present), we looking at trying to take 16 wickets in 96 overs on Thursday - or failing that, 6 wickets in the first 76 of those overs (which is obviously much more likely).

Looks like there might be play until lunch when the rain moves in for the rest of the day, so it would be handy if Hampshire could bowl Yorks out in the morning session , ask them to follow on and then have all tomorrow to bowl them out again.
