Fantastic innings. Looks as if this game will either be a massive win for Kent ( most likely imo) or a high scoring thriller.

Somerset were robbed by Duckworth-Lewis.

You'd back them to score 13 off the 2 lost overs.

True but why did they have to curtail the game by 2 overs anyway when there was still about 4 hours daylight remaining when the game finished?

Talking of rules and common sense, we were at serious risk of having to start our chase today before the lunchbreak. The scheduled lunchbreak for a 10.30 start is 2pm. But if the first innings is over within 3 hours - so 1.30 in this case - the second innings has to start before the lunchbreak/innings break.

We had Gloucs 9 down at about 1.15, and it was quite clear from listening to the radio that we were trying all sorts of delaying tactics, and fielding rather slowly, in an attempt to string things out to 1.30. No team wants to start their chase with a stupid little six or seven over spell, before then having to stop for lunch. The openers have to start their innings twice. But in doing so, Gloucs ended up managing to squeeze out 28 runs for that final wicket. And we lost by 35 runs.

No excuse for our poor batting, of course. But still, it was frustrating that we couldn't focus 100% on taking that 10th wicket. Ridiculous rule, which punishes a team for bowling the opposition out!!

Poor Essex weren't as fortunate as us though. They were forced to bat before the lunchbreak. And they went into lunch 29-4!

Totally agree Brendy, farcical to effctively penalise a team for bowling so well.

There's been some stunning cricket played in this competition already and it would appear going back to the 50 over game is going to be a success.

Agreed, I thought the competition would be dull and yet again have been proven wrong!

Lancs making heavy weather of batting in the first 15 overs at Chelmsford. I thought it was small ground with short boundaries, must be tight bowling.
