Yep have to get to 56 overs in their second innings without losing 10 wickets although they don't seem to be in total blocking mode right now.

Yep barring the Essex win which was always on the cards a pretty favourable day for Hants.

Ordinarily in a dead game, I would agree with you.

However here, I'm expecting us to play our Finals Day team (so including Shah) on Thursday, to effectively at as a warm-up.

Great four days. Realistically we couldn't have asked for more. Without a doubt, of the top five teams, we have come out the best.

Yes Essex won too, but they were only playing Glamorgan. We were playing Kent. Moreover, we picked up two more bonus points than they did.

Worcs slip up against Gloucs (no Moeen, no Ajmal, Mitchell failed. Three man team), and the rain denied Surrey. Do I blame Surrey for batting on for six overs this morning? Not really. But who knows, maybe it cost them in the end.

Four rounds of matches to go:

HANTS vs Leicester
KENT vs Glamorgan
Derby vs WORCS
Surrey & Essex do not play

ESSEX vs KENT
WORCS vs SURREY
Hants do not play

HANTS vs KENT
Leicester vs ESSEX
SURREY vs Derby
Worcs do not play

ESSEX vs WORCS
Glamorgan vs HANTS
KENT vs Gloucs
Surrey do not play

Worcs better pray that they can get Ajmal back in for a game or two, because those fixtures do not look nice. A couple of important head-to-heads, which if they lose...

so who is the mysterious international spinner that is signing this week that Kevin James was going on about ?

a bit concerned with what he also said about Shah not playing on Saturday.

if this is true , how do we line up ?

1 Carberry
2 Adams
3 Vince
4 Wheater
5 Slug
6 Smith
7 Coles
8 Wood
9 Dawson
10 Bates
11 Briggs

actually having written that down it doesn't look too bad , it does mean we have to use Slug if any of the other bowlers get a bit tap.

Apparently Shah now confirmed! Can't think who the spinner is - presumably Tahir committed with SA? Warney? Ha ha! Not great planning by the Hants team not to have any overseas players when the allowance is two! Hoping Anderson + Bulter won't play for Lancs now they are in the England one day squad.

Great sporting w/e.

Hants are back in the promotion spots with a much-needed win over Kent & Bournemouth are still top of the Championship - this may change after their game v Nottm Forest tomorrow night!

Surely a couple such as Carbs will be rested in the last 50 over match? Terry to get a game?

Presumably Kevan mentioned it on the radio, because there is nothing on Solent's twitter feed. Just a tweet about Shah's return being set to be confirmed, and Smith more likely than not to be fit in time for Finals Day.

India obviously have an ODI series over here.
Australia, SA and Zim are involved in a ODI tri-series.
Pakistan and SL have an ODI series against each, but are both then free during September.
Bangladesh have a full tour to WI.

NZ don't play until 20 October.

The t20 Champions League starts on 13 September.

So we looking at a NZ spinner or a Test spinner who doesn't play ODI cricket. And they can't have qualified for the Champions League.

Heres an interesting question, if the season ended today, who would be our player of the season ??

Vince is the obvious choice with 1,220 LVCC runs @ 61, and a match-winning QF heroic innings

On the other hand, Will Smith has 955 LVCC runs @ over 50, and without him, probably wouldn't of got out of the T20 groups.

Vince probably edges it now, but by the end of the season it could easily change, although I think it will be those 2 competing.
