Thankfully Essex have been losing a few wickets this morning. Need them to miss out on a couple of batting points at lease maybe even 3.

Hi chaps. I'm at the Ageas today. It looks a very easy paced wicket to me. Kent look like they are content to rack up a big score as slowly as possible. Billings has played some nice shots though. :salute

That's good to hear, because from here on in its all about us trying to get to 400 within 110 overs in our attempt to at least secure 11 points.

Ideal conditions for batting now. It's lovely and sunny with a light breeze. Silly run out by Kent. Hagget didn't run for an easy single.

Run-outs, timed-outs, hit ball twice, etc - we'll take any dismissal we're offered atm!

Essex back on course for a possible 4 batting points after Foster passes hundred. A day and a half of everything going against us, hopefully we can bat well and negate some of the damage over the next two days. Mind you we'll probably get to 199 for 0 and then it'll decide to rain for the rest of the game.

I'd take 199-0 as it would set the team up for the last match in a positive frame of mind! The forecast is dodgy for Thursday - pessimistically we may not reach a 4th day!

Kent 500-7 & Tahir something like 2 for 137! My possible forecast of 550-6 may only be 1 wicket out!
Foster (offered Hants captaincy a couple of years back) on a Nelson for Essex.

We've caught a break at last, Essex have dropped two batting points. Now we need to bat bloody well.

Too true BMB - the last 3 wickets going virtually altogether sped things up a bit rather than an awkward couple of overs before tea.

Smith has 5-114 this season, surprised we don't use him more.

Also surprised we didn't give Alsop a few overs, he bowled for Eng U19s.

Need to bat well here and score atleast 400 in the 110...3-0 after 1.

Need 400 plus and get out with 11 points which will mean that Essex will need to win both games , whilst if we pick up the 11 we will need 13 max from next week at the Glammys

A fairly cautious start from Hampshire so far. Stevens is chugging in like an old tug boat.
