There's a big difference between deserving to get promoted from D2, and deserving to be in D1. Just look at Northants and Derby.

If you finish in the top two in D2, over a full 16 matches, you deserve to get promoted.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

You'd think that the pitch has alot to do with what happened today considering we hammered Kent a few weeks ago at Canterbury.

On the other hand after beating Essex by a gigantic margin at the Ageous bowl we then went on to lose in the reverse fixture a few weeks later.

Come to think of it - has he ever done much for us in the championship after those amazing first few games? I think he was in the side when we went down. Anyone got his stats?
Got a feeling he's done better in the one dayers - esp in the T20 with Afridi on those used pitches.

124 wickets in 27 FC games @ 25.24 overall.

2011 the year we went down, he took 28 @ 24.46 from 8 games.

Thanks Powelly. Not quite Ajmal stats, but at least he's legal! Quite interesting figures - basically 2-50 in each innings in 2011 - so probably quite economical (assuming he bowled plenty of overs) but not really very effective (or regularly match winning). Hence we went down. I'm guessing his overall figures are helped by those first few games that must have been comfortably sub 20?
Compare Malcolm Marshall in 82 - 134 at 15 (and 25 with the bat). Different times and format but still......

Kent collapse this morning or 400+ for 4 by lunch & 550-6 later on? We shall see.
It was a good point about the difference between deserving promotion and deserving to stay up.
I didn't hear any rumours at the ground yesterday about potential squad changes at the end of the season. Mind you there was a rumour last season that Tremlett might be returning!

We could conceivably end up third with 230 points, never would have believed that at the start of the season.

2008 he played 7 games and took 44 @ 16.68

2009 he played 12 games and took 52 @ 32.90

2010 he played for Warwickshire

2011 he played 8 games and took 28 @ 24.46

Also averages 16.59 with the bat for us.

Don't think so, should escape with a draw here, and SWALEC next week have had some odd pitches in recent weeks, that Tahir should love.

I have a feeling we may have to rely on Worcs doing us a favour or the weather.
