We are miles ahead of the over-rate ( due to so many overs of spin ), 35 mins to bowl 3 overs.

340-5, 3 for Coles.

We should of been chasing more than that.

We could chase this down in 40 overs.

Currently on course for 500.

Powerplay comes to an end. Derby can have a whole extra two men outside of the inner field.....Or not, as we've taken our powerplay straight away.

Very annoying that. He was finally starting to do something, finally starting to look in his best form.

Derby on top now, 4 down after 22 overs, and going at the required RR.

With spinners on at both ends, and us just wobbling slightly, I am surprised to not see us promote Coles again. A quick 30 from 17 from here now would help to get us back on track.

Instead, I can see the RRR starting to spiral out of control now.

I was just thinking that, I would of sent Dawson in ahead of Slug, then Coles and held Slug back.

The other side of the coin to having to have an extra man in the ring, is that it becomes a lot harder to milk spinners. And so because we're not going aerial and hitting boundaries, the runs have dried up and Derby are flying through their overs.

All starting to go Pete Tong.

A pretty dreadful effort today. Looks like we'll be thrashed by a team that finished bottom of the T20 north group. When we're good we're very very good, when we're bad we're awful. No consistency, never know which Hants will turn up.

Back to how we started the t20 comp in May/June. The top order fire, the middle order play as if they have never seen a bat before.

Yes, by all accounts Vince and Maxwell threw their wickets away in the first 11 overs, but that happens when you have license to play your shots. And more importantly, they still had Adams, Ervine, Dawson, Smith, and Wheater - potentially aided by Coles and Wood cameos - to follow.

If you're going to pick that many batsmen (and I have no problem with us picking that many batsmen, particularly given we have not replaced the likes of Dimi and Cork in our one day bowling attack), you can hardly use the line "responsibility on the top order to score the runs here". What exactly is the use of having a batsman down at no.8 in that instance?

The middle order let us down again, coupled with our inability to replace Dimi in the winter.

Yorks make 324-7 to support my belief that 300 - 320 will be the par score on decent pitches this competition.

Gone are the days where 270 is a real decent one-day score (not that anyone has told England).
