Not only that - some teams may be at a disadvantage due to who they have to play twice. Still, it's only Twenty20.

Yes, this is the problem with the new t20 format-the whole thing loses a lot of credibility.
Apparently the mid-season CC gap is because the research ( fan survey & Morgan report)recommended the new 50 over comp( the catchily titled Royal London One-day Cup) be played during the school summer holidays.
Shoe-horning the CC fixtures into the first and last part of the season has been the biggest problem regarding fixtures over the past few seasons-I ( foolishly) hoped the new structure would lead to a more even spread of CC games throughout the season.
