Matthew Maynard seems to have quite a history of falling out with clubs and players yet still manages to get employment.

Devestating to hear that there is a real chance of Kieswetter's career being over. We can only hope that he makes a full recovery, though you have to wonder if he'll be able to maintain his desire to play the game with such a long time on the sidelines.

Northants sign Rory Kleivndelt as their overseas for 2015, with Richard Levi also signing as a Kolpak....

Alviro Petersen signs for Lancashire

I thought Northants are skint, amazed to see them sign two quality players.

Lancashire have also done well to recruit Petersen, would not have minded him at Yorkshire for a season long overseas signing.

I think Petersen is able to sign as a Kolpak, if so it's an even better deal as Lancs still have the option of bringing in an 'official' overseas player.

I understand the ECB trying to ensure counties don't over-extend budgets and trying to give incentives to counties for playing and developing England players but tightening salary caps which will restrict counties ability to attract high profile overseas players as well wont really help to bring people into the grounds

But the real high profile players are no longer available because of the heavy international programme and IPL so only non- centrally contracted or ex-Internationals are available. Of next season's overseas player's I'd say only Sangakkara would put bums on seats.

Delighted to see Petersen signed. He's not a player who will dramatically improve the batting on his own, but he is a solid player. Hoping to see an overseas batsman signed as well.

wasn't talking specific players tbh just the general principle that when counties are struggling to get people into the grounds putting in place tighter salary caps which reduces the ability for counties to even try and get high profile players doesn't seem to make sense

Obviously something has to be done to make the Counties more financially viable. We can't keep going on with Counties racking up huge debts, which without the Sky money from the ECB they'd never be able to pay off.

Standard ECB proceedure seems to be, put a bandaid on rather than looking at why this has happened.

Something strange going on at Northants, are they meant to be skint but sign three overseas players of a good quality :dunno :hmmm
