Crazy figures. I'd be surprised if anyone gets near that figure. Remember watching him in a few games and it was like he was a cheat player. He was so obviously better than anyone around him. And when he got in the range of brutal shots he was capable of was insane.

He has a good test average but from a sample well past his best. Australia should have really seen the talent, he'd have been a legend given more games.

He'll obviously get votes from Yorkshire. Cricket was more popular and more accessible in the seventies and eighties with the limited overs events on BBC live. Maybe explains why Lehmann is on 3%.

I suppose he could have won Greg Blewett's caps. Lehmann made a poor start though and only really had a good year in 2003 when he scored heavily v BD. By then he was near retirement. They did give up on him rather quickly. I suppose they were winning anyway.
I always say that everybody's right.

2 things amazed me about the poll.

First, that Durham supporters chose Boon ahead of Benkenstein. Boon may have sown the seeds for Durham, but I would argue that Benks was completely instrumental in guiding Durham to their first ever piece of silverware and then the first of two Championship titles. Presumably plenty of others don't share that view

Second, that Sussex supporters voted for Imran Khan ahead of Mushy. Don't get me wrong, Imran was a fine player, one of my favourite players, but it seems to me that the 3 titles Sussex won were built on the back of Mushy's bowling prowess. He took 478 wickets for them.... 478! or nearly 6 wickets in each of his 85 matches..... blimey! Leading wicket taker in the CC for 5 successive seasons and he doesn't make the cut..... tough crowd!

Boon is credited with installing a more positive mind set into the players but Benks installed a winning mindset into them plus Boon's batting average whilst at Durham was <40, barely acceptable for your overseas batsman. Poll result was 33% Boon to 32% Benks but it's Benks by a mile for me.

shouldn't have even been close.......and Benks should probably still be at the club. The decision to appoint Lewis ahead of Benks as Cook's temp replacement was folly imo, particularly given that Benks seemed to feel that there was an understanding there. The only possible justification was if the Lewis appointment was intended to keep the seat warm for Colly, but subsequently that didn't look likely at any stage.

Indeed. While I love Murray Goodwin, I couldnt really justify picking anyone other than Mushie

Maybe a case of other fans picking on our behalf by choosing the most famous name?

Tim's instagram statement said it was all his own doing and approached Moxon for a release. Wants one last hurrah somewhere else and doesn't want to deny the youngsters a chance, having debuted himself at 16 years old.

A shame to lose an experienced campaigner when Yorkshire have strengthened for the T20 Blast with Dawid Malan, but Bresnan's commitment to the white rose has been above and beyond.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

Yes. A great servant to the club. I'm sure he won't be short if options and I expect he will have a successful final few years.

Zak Crawley says the govt should lift the restrictions that are preventing club cricket from being played

Is that your professional opinion, Zak?

I've had a look to see what his scientific or medical background is, but he doesn't seem to have any of that old nonsense. Then again he did go to Tunbridge school which I think is part of Eton, so perhaps we should bow to his obvious right to rule over us all and just do whatever he says, when he says it :dunno

To be fair, Zak has probably noted the ECB medical advice that a cricket ball is NOT a natural vector of the disease. Boris, not surprisingly, was apparently unaware that ECB and The gov. dept for sport were in advanced talks about a recreational cricket restart.Only problem will be for Boris spin department to announce resumption without it looking like he has just completed his hat trick of U turns.
