The scorer for that game. Now, must have been difficult to keep up with the scoring rate. https://twitter.com/mohanstatsman/statu ... 9959455744

Bell has taken on the Captaincy at the Bears. Hard not to see this as an acceptance that his International career is over.

He has said he is still up for it but I agree with you.

Frankly I was half minded to write a Bell tribute piece just to stir up some debate when I read the article.

I dont think Bell will be writing himself off yet.

Compton isn't exactly nailing down his test spot at present so there is still hope.

Compton has done well enough to merit a summer in the side, even if Bell scores a shed load of runs he's a known force at international level. Can easily see England looking at the likes of Vince instead of a 34 year old Bell.

Given the number of players older than Bell (and without his record) who have made their mark recently in Test cricket, then it would be foolish to right him off. Presumably he still has a central contract.

The captaincy at Warwicks will be a full time job - all Bell can do is lead the side well, score runs and let everything else take its course.

He's also had an extended break from cricket - the first in 10 years or so. That worked well for Morgan.

Michael Clarke is back, and talking about signing for a county.

With all these T20 tounaments it's quite hard for a player to retire these days.

They'll probably ho on till they're sixty some of them.

Clarke was never going to retire fully. He was suppose to play in the BBL this season but had an extended break instead.

Makes a change from financial services providing sponsorship.

I wonder if sponsorship by John Player and B&H in the seventies ever did turn anyone on to smoking.
