Leicestershire are signalling their intentions for next year with the signing of Mark Pettini from Essex. Recruit a couple of decent pace bowlers and dare I say it, Leicestershire could be well within a shout of promotion.

I reckon few counties will be trying to sign this fella next season as their overseas player after this impressive display.

It works out Kim scored on average 25.22 runs per over in his final session knock, very Stick Cricket-esque :clap

Interesting. Has Siddle retired from Test cricket as Aussies have virtually a full programme in summer? Tri-series in June in WIndies and tour of Sri Lanka in July/August.

Strange thing is that Mick Newell says that the Australians have no tests lined up that might limit Siddle's availability.

The SL tour is both tests and ODI's though. Unless the T20 domestic competition is to be moved to the school summer holidays and Notts plan on signing a couple of T20 specialists.

Plans are unveiled to redevelop Bradford Park Avenue cricket ground into it's former glory. A 5000+ capacity First Class ground with floodlights, mostly used for grassroots, disabled and elite womens cricket but also by Yorkshire CCC on occasion at a cost of £5.5 Million.

That'll be the ground where Jim Laker took 8 for 2 in a Test trial? And a reporter asked him if it was his best ever anaylsis :d'oh:

The very same ground.

I am amazed with the scale of ambition because Horton Park Avenue is in a run down area and the Yorkshire Academy initially left the site because of repeated vandalism. An indoor cricket training facility would make it complete so the venue can truly be used for cricket all year round. Either way £5.5 Million for what is going to be effectively a new stadium is value for money.

The figures if spread over the whole fixture list are really tiny numbers, and are because of an Ashes summer, and increased crowds for Yorkshire and Surrey. Are they significant? But the ECB will take them to mean their changes are working, so here come some more.

Interesting that international crowds, peaked in 2007, and not for an Ashes series, but then declined. Shortly after international cricket was moved behind a paywall.
I always say that everybody's right.

I heard on SSN this morning (I was half asleep so don't know if this is definite) that there is talk of CC Div 2 matches doing away with the pre-match toss and just letting the away side have the choice of batting or bowling.

The idea being to prepare better pitches.
