Haha yeah wonder if Surrey will move for him...they have talented line up, but borthwick hasn't had the season he would have hoped for..you never know..

I can't remember the last time that Borthwick didn't finish the season with more than 1000 CC runs. 2/3rds through this season and he hasn't scored 400 runs yet

last year 1060runs at 40 with a SR of 53
this year 387 runs at 29 with a SR of 39

last year 23 wickets at 52 with an econ of 3.84
this year 3 wickets at 93 with an econ of 4.28

Just as well playing all of those games at The Oval were going to help his batting and bowling! Ansari unexpectedly retiring in April must have helped the bowling as well.

And the oval is supposed to be easier to bat on and more conducive for spinners, AFAIK

still there is always an up side to these things

last year he was on a very good salary England weren't looking at how good he was for Durham
this year he's on big bucks England can see how good he is for Surrey

I wonder if he's privately regretting his decision ? Another poor season next year and he certainly will be ( assuming he's still there.) The downside of being on big wages at a rich club is being easily expendable - they can just bring in somebody else.

To be fair to Sorry they do have quite a lot of their own players in the side, Warwickshire seem to have taken over as the county who have given up on developing players.

Depends how you define "own". If they aren't poached from other countries they tend to be S. African or products of the independent schools with strong cricketing traditions e.g. Whitgift, Cranleigh etc who will have predominately provided their cricket development.
