I get the impression that Warwickshire have lost focus on four day cricket by becoming overly enamoured with T20 and ODI cricket. Winning last years T20 Blast might have gone to their heads.

Middlesex are still in a chance of victory against Sussex, which potentially reduces the lead to 36pts and have a home fixture against Yorkshire on 9th-12th September. Enough time for a twist in the tale, as seen in the 2010 title race when Notts thought they had the title all but wrapped in late August with a contrived victory against Lancashire.

Leicesteshire docked 16 CC points for disciplinary reasons. The points docked immediately so I suppose that's good news for them.

The hearing related to five incidents reported by umpires over the last 12 months that were deemed to show a level of dissent to the umpires or opposition players. It is with huge disappointment that the ECB Disciplinary Panel Committee has today decided to dock Leicestershire CCC 16 Championship points this season. We believe that the sanction imposed is severe.

The club statement also mentions there is no appeals procedure.

curious. sounds like some kind of culture of poor behaviour from the playing staff.

given that the 2 wins this year represent their total wins for the past 3 seasons, it seems harsh to dock them them all the points from one of them.

or these 5 incidents really are that bad

probably just as well that nothing the ECB could do to them could make them sink any lower in the CC than they already were before the 2 wins.

We've got one or two who have transgressed I think so we'd best be careful in future.

We've all witnessed the consistently appalling behave of Sorrey in recent season's yet no sanctions or even threat of sanctions. One rule for one.....

should never plead guilty, or admit anything.

first rule of the ECB is to throw the book at anyone daft enough to admit to a trangression, so it's always best to deny, deny, deny, keep silent about, and then deny a bit more. That way the ECB are not forced to take action, so you never get held to account, and simultaneously increases the possibility of getting a highly lucrative 15 year staging agreement, that earns so much money that you can afford to break bend every rule in the book, and go back to deny, deny, deny, keep silent about, and then deny a bit more, all over again.
