The 82 vs Hampshire you mention came in a game that Bairstow and Pujara got 300 runs between them.... and both were only dismissed once.

If you are saying a line up with Bairstow and Pujara in it, two players that have attracted votes as 2016 best test player on the relevant thread, supported by a former England test opener, and in a line up with 5 or 6 test capped players is "Yorkshire at their most depleted", when Christ alive, who was picking the team that day?

After that his form disappeared, and he is now on a 15 game plus run of utter dross.

Also known as a very bad season. He needs a good season. Wer'e just at a wait and see phase. There has been enough good stuff to go into the season with guarded optimism, but maybe with an eye on plan B just in case.

His scores tail end about 6 games into 2015, so its actually the majority of two seasons he is struggling to average more than what you expect from a number 8.

Its not only the length, but the extent of the slump, and that it crosses two seasons and a long gap to reset and find form.

He scored a 100 coming into bat after Lees had scored one, on a pitch never likely to give a result vs Notts, and which saw a top individual score of 240.

Alex Hales scored 56% of Notts 1st innings runs, next highest total was 72. Yorkshire with a weak batting line up had to bat diligently in a game where they could have easily lost.

He scored a 100 on a pitch that a number 11 got a 50, a number 10 got 44*, a number 8 got a hundred, and a number 7 got 99.... another dead draw pitch.

Tim Bresnan scoring 100 not out was the 2nd highest 1st innings score after a mid/lower order collapse. Overton scoring a 50 at number 11 he obviously chanced his arm and paid off. Patterson's 44* was free runs in a game that was already drawn in effect. Cooper's 99 was a knock not to be frowned upon.

Andrew Gale got 148 up the order when he scored vs Notts.

and the rest of the top 6 scored 0, 15, 14 and 15. 3rd highest score in that innings was 52 by Tim Bresnan

The 82 vs Hampshire you mention came in a game that Bairstow and Pujara got 300 runs between them.... and both were only dismissed once.

Pujara scored his 133 in the 2nd innnings, Bairstow scored his brisk 102 with Leaning at the crease and was out with the score at 269-5.

Not at the same time though. Lyth was on England duty for much of the 2015 domestic season, Pujara only played 3 matches, Bairstow was at Yorkshire from May until July. Maxwell and Finch failed to deliver for Yorkshire in the CC.

After that his form disappeared, and he is now on a 15 game plus run of utter dross.

Every player goes on a bad run of form. The point is Leaning played some very important innings and is a better player than you give him credit for.

Anyone know if the Kolpaks will be able to play SA domestic cricket? Most of the signings (ok, a couple of exceptions) are peripheral to the international set up, but by scooping off this second tier talent the counties are removing the best talent of the SAn teams, diminishing their competitions- should the Kolpaks be not available.

They can at the moment. But Lorgat wants to change that...
