even Paris 2024 has been asked to tone it down in case it stops people watching the hundred. The ECB did try to get the olympics moved in case it interfered with their revenue streams, but then Labour got elected and are now sucking up to the French, so now it's the ECB who have to suck stuff up. This wouldn't have happened if Strauss or Bostock had become PM... they'd have pulled team GB out in protest at IOC intransigence

The 100 is a tournament I'll have on in the background but it immediately fades from memory. I can't remember who won last year and am pretty sure I watched the final.
According to The Guardian the ECB are keen for the format to change to T20 when the next TV rights deal - 2029! - is signed...but they want it to still be called The 100 because it's apparently such a powerful brand!

Wasn't there a suggestion the whole thing might get ditched when the TV deal runs out? If the American tournament is a success-and it probably will be - there'll be even fewer big names playing than there are now.
It's amazing really , I don't think I've spoken to any cricket fan who doesn't absolutely hate it and - small sample size obviously!- none of my friends who aren't cricket fans are remotely interested either.

Probably! Reminds me of a Bon Jovi gig in Sunderland a few years ago when the sales were so bad the promoters had people literally giving free tickets away on the day of the concert.
Similar thing with Rod Stewart at the Riverside, remember someone who got tickets on the day and I think they were ten quid

we had to rely on a watchful 75 from Jonny Bushnell and a swashbuckling 48 from Coggers to avoid a potential embarrassment chasing 192

Had forgotten about Glover! Seems to have disappeared.
Not a convincing win but I see Notts and Derbyshire lost- and Notts were defending 332, lost off the last ball.
Think this competition will be very unpredictable with all the weakened teams. If we have any success I think we'll need the batsmen to set ( or chase).over par scores. Bowling looks weak.

Good win. Seemed to start slowly with the bat and then exploded in the second half of the innings. Ackermann stringing together some excellent performances now and de Leede showing his quality. Lees outstanding.
I went into the cinema when Lancs were around 60 for 1 and wasn't overly confident...seems to have been fairly straightforward in the end .
