Maybe it can be left to a democratic vote. A thakorendum, so to speak. First poll on the new website dedicated to the legend.....

He's on twitter.

1500 followers.

Research may be possible. Mainly sponsors stuff, ManU (he's from Leics...), and retweets. No politics. Pretty dull actually.

Yes was quoted as wanting his children settled in Australia for their education. Can't be faulted for that.

There had been some speculation since he signed on with a BBL side. Good luck to him. He took Yorks out CC2 to the top of CC1. Minor negative in not delivering a convincing limited overs side, but it looked like he was getting there.

Jason Gillespie leaving Yorkshire was going to be inevitable, just a matter of when. Though he did cut a forlorn figure on the players balcony as Yorkshire headed to defeat against Surrey in the RL Cup.

If there is one thing Jason Gillespie should be credited for in his reign at Yorkshire, it's the vast improvement of bowler Steven Patterson. 7-8 years ago he was at best a containing medium pacer, but has turned into a wicket taking bowler and go to man.

The absence of white ball honours is more to do with club attitude rather than Gillespie himself, though Yorkshire are finally realising the realms of white ball cricket. I would like to see a white ball orientated coach as next in line (Paul Collingwood an ideal candidate, but can't see him leaving Durham anytime soon)
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

Slightly before my time, but a familiar name, Ken Higgs has died at 79. Whenever I hear his name, I wonder at his Test bowling record of 71 wickets at 20.7, and why he only got 15 Tests. Scored a Test fifty too (63, putting on 128 for the last wicket with John Snow). I remember him as a stalwart Leics player, but apparently was at Lancs before that. 1536 first class wickets. Last played fc cricket at 49.

He was Statham's new ball partner at Lancs before retiring in 1969and playing in league cricket for rishton.Illingworth lured him out of retirement in 1972 at the age of 35 and retired again in 1982.He returned briefly at age 49.
He was not a fast bowler but very good, accurate bowler and respected by batsmen. His partnership with Snow was legendary and help set up the only Test victory v WIndies in 1966.I watched that partnership right through.Boys Own stuff then Close took that catch from Sobers, first ball, to cap a wonderful experience.
