Well we did pick 9 batsmen. Sadly several of them were shown up by Ben Sanderson and Harry Conway. I honestly didn't think George Bartlett was capable of this type of innings. He often looks like a milllion dollars before getting out in a silly manner. It feels like an important season for him, Vasconcelas, Sales and Rob Keogh in terms of their career.

what particularly impressed me about Bartlett, when following the scorecard earlier, was the way he didn't get suckered into trying to grab those last half dozen runs for his hundred. Had he gone for them, Northants might have lost that game. Showed maturity

Watching the highlights, Matty Potts gave Zak Crawley a series going over in the Durham v Kent game in both innings. Ollie Pope has done nothing to put his name back in the hat, although his colleague Jamie Smith a much needed big score to show some form finally after a bad winter.

Meanwhile, Ben Duckett reenforced his commitment to playing FC cricket by not playing in his first match, and I have seen some suggestions around that he wont play till May.

Matty Potts bowled really well against Kent. The best I've seen him bowl in a while. He was a shadow of his best self last season, culminating with his ashes woes, so this felt rather like a big step on the road back. He could do with England leaving him alone this summer, while he rediscovers his best form

I seen Bashir got a wicket with the worst ball ever bowled. Was a wide, waist high full toss that the batter managed to inside edge onto his stumps...
