Yorkshire bowling beginning to be of a little concern? It looks very strong and the strong batting resistance both Universities put up just appeared an aberration. But now Glamorgan's tail puts on nearly 200 and counting.

Willey playing against Kent has eased the concerns. Having a proper opening swing bowler makes all the difference.

Olivier is more effective at 1st change and Fisher is too up and down to be a red ball opening bowler. Patterson has slowed down in pace, i'm not sure whether he will bowl as effectively as in previous years. Thompson seems to have a knack in picking up wickets and being a batsman is an added bonus.

I'd like to see Bess tie up one end and Olivier/Fisher bowl in short bursts with the older ball as a strategy.

Patterson drags Yorks back into it as he takes 3 wickets in 7 balls to bring Sussex from 212-6 to 212-9. Sussex 221 all out have a lead of only 71

For anyone who wants to watch the Sussex v Yorks game. Lyth has pretty much single handedly batted out the deficit. Not seen much in the pitch, so the first innings scores look a bit tragic unless it really flattened out at some point. Although Rawlins coming on early suggests maybe the pitch might be suiting some spin.

Still, after that session I am left wondering is this the same guy who looked barely capable of holding a bat in an England shirt. Lyth has been pretty much technically perfect, no moving around, head straight up; crunched a few wonderful straight drives, played one absolutely wonderful wristy shot where he just opened the face and placed it down through third man, and every time Sussex have got short to him hes pounded the pull shot to the boundary.
