A fine innings from Grace Scrivens takes Essex to 162

Might be a tough total this. Our fielding which started solidly, went to rats in the last few overs. We could have had a couple more wickets and we might be chasing 10 runs less

I think this is the 3rd time I’ve seen Scrivens bat and she hasn’t impressed me at all until today. Today she played really really well. Used her feet to good effect and we couldn’t pin her down at all. Not often Levick goes for 42 off 4

Disappointing loss against Essex, but their innings was driven by one player and we couldn't find the player to match it.

It was like every men's T20 match over the last 20 years, sadly. Couldn't beat the ring, regular wickets falling, 5 an over felt a struggle

Even the chicken gyros cost £13.50..... £13.50! I'm almost certain it was £9 last year. 50% increase in a year!

fortunately I was saved from the second half of our reply by a phone call from my daughter wanting me to pick her up

and we lost by 12 runs

the fielding was fine until, with about 4 overs remaining, a calamitous single was turned into 3 runs, by 3 fielders all diving one after another and all failing to stop the ball completely. After that we had 2 misfields that had the batters scampering for unexpected second runs. We dropped a decent chance and, with the batters trying to run 2 for everything, we fluffed 2 out of 3 certain run outs in the last 2 overs, with the batters nowhere. Think Nathan Lyon and then think it again

And all this after I've been complimenting them on the vast improvements in fielding. At least we only conceded 2 extras, so that's a vast improvement on the first half of the campaign when we were conceding many, many more than that

we don't want to be losing to Lancs on Sunday and go into finals day on a run of back to back defeats

I would never criticise HA, because I know that she's a very fine, highly respected captain and she knows what she's doing.....

but............ I've never understood why Trudy J never seems to bowl out. She only ever seems to bowl in the PP, and once she's done with that, whether that's 2 overs or 3 overs, she never bowls again. She bowled 2 today for 11 runs. Its a puzzle
