Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been dropped for Worcestershire's next game because he has apparently told the club he's joining Yorkshire next season!

So we have a County who were heading for bankruptcy before being propped up by FTECB chairman's millions luring players whom another county has spent time and money on his development. A player when out of contract is free to go where he likes but surely substantial compensation should be paid to the club which has developed him.

I agree, there has to be a compensation system brought in.

Worcestershire are known to be offer scholarships to young cricketers outside of the county, before the ECB restricted this to one player per season. One can argue Worcestershire are piggybacking off grassroots cricket from another county to fill their playing squad.

Kohler-Cadmore played his schoolboy cricket at Yorkshire (once opened the batting with Jack Leaning), he is effectively coming back home and the signing means Yorkshire have identified their domestic batsman target.

I was aware K-C had some roots in Yorkshire but how much involvement they had in his development I wouldn't know. Suspect Malvern College, a school with a long cricket tradition, probably had the most influence over either of the 2 counties. Don't understand the logic of the piggyback reference when he was educated in Worcestershire. I'm simply of the opinion that it cannot be good for cricket nationally if the test staging counties continue to hoover up young talent from other counties. The only way that can be controlled is by hefty compensation fees being put in place. That's hardly likely to happen when thcontrolling voices at ECB are the chairmen of the test staging venues.

Not to mention, it's ridiculous for a player to be making comments about any potential signings for next season this early into the current one! Not a clue what he's playing at as Worcs would be well within their rights to simply not play him again this season, have fun signing a player whose not played a game for half a season. The lad is muppet if there is any truth in this.

He'll walk into their side. Apart from the Zimbabwean and the Aussie the Yorkies don't have any batsmen.

I disagree...yes he's having a decent run, but overall his record is mediocre and to be honest, Yorks do have good batsman, just little bit out of nick which happens..for me the likes of Leaning etc are much better players..

His forte is the white ball game and he's undoubtedly talented but seems to lack applicatiion for proper cricket. Leaning is a solid player but Lyth is inconsistent and Lees is crap. In fact Yorkies have stopped producing batsmen since Steve Rhodes left-hence the necessity to acquire the readymade.

He's crap at the moment then. Boycott says he's good so he must be.
