Warwickshire lose both openers early, are the top order about to flop again?
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

3 consecutive 50 partnerships have meant they've overcome the poor start.
Sports broadcasting media nut miscast as a hard-working family man. Or should that be the other way around?

The game at Edgbaston has probably only one more session before rain takes over for the rest of the game so it's just about bonus points. Other matches will probable be affected as well.

A rain affected draw is as good as a win for Hampshire this season.

133-3 doesn't look great start for Yorks. At least there's a spinner in Azeem, and Brooks is back.

Gale averaging under 20 this season. No fifties in 16 innings.

Fifty for Tim, and Ballance finding some valuable form. Good fightback from Yorks.

Tim goes for 63. Ballance nears his ton. Finn has no wickets so far and could really do with a good game. If Anderson and Stokes are fit for the First Test, it seems possible he will be left out.

I think the plan is for Stokes to play the next 4 day game for Durham - he's playing in the current one but is unlikely to bowl whereas he should play a full part in the next one. 2nd test will probably be his comeback.

Finn is getting some ominous press and it's fairly automatic for journos to comment that his rhythm is off. He didn't get a bowl in he ODIs. I suppose if Stokes isn't ready, it feels much less likely Finn will be dropped.

Finn's been "searching for rhythm" all season so I doubt he's going to find it. Plunkett would be a better choice but it's an Anderson replacement that's a problem-Ball,I suppose. Seam attack of Broad, Woakes, Plunkett and Ball-not bad IMO.

132 for Ballance, an important knock for him and the team. Rather a sedate run rate from Yorks, so the match progressing slowly.

Footitt is bowling again, and toured in the winter, so might have a chance.

Jacky Brooks getting the key wicket of Sam Robson, much needed too as the Middlesex openers put on 87.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
