Great recovery from Leaning and the tail. Shouldn't be too hard for Lancs to draw from here though.

Stand out play of the day surely Hants' remarkable collapse v Essex. In part, to Ravi.

Good recovery from Yorks although doubtless helped by St Jimbo's injury. Then again, Lances picked 2 spinners in May, which I choose to interpret as them reverting to their old Peter Moores trick of 'preparing' worn, used pitches, so deserve everything they get

18-0 to 18-5 for Hants... what are they thinking? Why was Dawson opening?

The last time we lost five for none, was a decade ago at home to some team from the North East.

All our batsmen were available for the first time this season. Adams ended up being the unlucky one to miss out. So Dawson was promoted to opener. The stronger argument was probably for Ervine to drop out, but as it transpired that he's become our third seamer in this match with Fidel getting injured, it's probably a good thing that he was retained.

Down since about half way through day one. Isn't expected to bowl again in the match.

Sadly it is probably time to let him go, so often is he breaking down. But then that does leave us with a huge gaping hole in our squad, once again. Although he's giving it his absolute best effort, Abbott can't carry this attack by himself.

To be fair it is good innovation by the Lancashire think tank to pick two spin bowlers in May when it has been a relatively dry winter/spring and Old Trafford can be conducive to spin, hence why Yorkshire have scored relatively slowly. Before the game I wanted Yorkshire to go with Carver and Rafiq, even if it meant leaving out one of Sidebottom or Brooks.

Yorkshire's game went on longer than I thought. 94* for Brooks! Highest fc score.

Ton for Brook, who takes the new ball with Sidebottom, rather than Coad. A scalp apiece for the veterans, with the big wickets of Hameed and Livingstone.

And Tim gets one, even before Benco gets the ball. Great morning for Yorkshire.
