I've been looking back over the footage from when I was in the garden. Harte's 4 came off a thick outside edge that just evaded 3rd slip whilst three of Burnham's 4's were creamed through the covers (hold the pose, no need to run for that shots) and the fourth was solidly thumped straight down past the bowler. For someone who hasn't been able to buy a run this season he looks in very good touch

I remember reading- think it may have been a David Gower book - about how Ray Illingworth always had an excuse when he got out. One game he was out first ball and said the umpire gave him the wrong guard!
Read Vic Marks book and he has a similar one - Brian Close was one of the victims of a hattrick and when he crossed the outgoing batsman he told him the bowler was getting lavish swing. Close out first ball and when he got back to the dressing room he angrily said to the previous batsman " Why didn't you tell me it was seaming as well as swinging "

Very difficult to accept that there could have been any marked improvement in the light when it's continued to be overcast all day but I've ceased to get annoyed at the general appalling standards of umpiring.
It's a bit of a mystery why Bedingham has only been given a 1 year contract especially when Dickson has been given a 2 year deal.

I think I read something when Bedingham signed that suggested the 1 year deal may have been ar his behest. As if he was keeping his options open regarding South Africa. If that isn't the case it does seem very odd it's just one year given how highly rated he is. He's already proved his worth so we need to try and keep him, I suspect covid will have further weakened SA crickets finances so he may well want to stay in English country cricket. Problem with a one year deal is other counties are sure to have noticed him. D'arcy Short comes to mind!

I didn't realise he was a Saffer too. There was a time when we brought locally produced players through. Now we bring back former local boys that we let go and then top up with South Africans
