Don't know why he left but he has a reputation( fairly or otherwise) for getting into trouble-he was Stokes' drinking partner on that Lions tour where both got sent home.

I wonder if Matt Coles is a friend of Oliver Robinson?

Possibly, no doubt they would have played a lot together.

so why would going back be a good idea?

At least Plunkett could come back to Durham, because they've demolished the Tall Trees outside Yarm, to make room for a housing estate. Have they demolished all of Matty Coles haunts?

Bit drastic that to try and stop Pudsey' s drinking nor will it stop him going for a sarnie at 3a.m.

Coles got into trouble on the same A tour (or was it the Lions?) when him and Stokes were sent home for late night drinking.

Sounds like it, a good player so any problems are unlikely to be on the field ones.

I do wonder if hes maybe unhappy about the Berg signing, if you compare now to 18 months ago when he signed, we've added Bird, Adams, Arafat and Berg to the pace attack, coupled with Tommo being as close to undroppable as you can get, and Wood back to fitness and having a good end to the year. His place was far from guaranteed.

There's a lengthy interview with Berg in this week's Cricket Paper and it would appear that he has yet to prove his full fitness. He says only that his rehab under the Hant' s physio is going well but never comments whether he's been batting or bowling. The medics don't appear to have got to the bottom of the problem which he says is an illness rather than an injury. Hants do appear to be taking a bit of a gamble with him as a direct replacement for Coles which doesn't reflect we'll on Cole's at all.

Well we did give Robinson a trial last season, so at the very least they presumably would have come into contact with each other then.

Kris Temple at Radio Solent seems content that it was purely off field issues that led to Coles' release (and likewise there is nothing in our official statement which suggests to me that there was anything cricket-related to do with the decision).

You really must get that hearing aid tested!

You are right. It was only Durham I heard. ;)

Misinterpreted- he was overheard saying " I fancy the Riverside"-that's the name of his local.

Perhaps, he can hang out with Pudsey and Matt Coles.

Is the Kent academy based in the hop fields?
