We talk about declaring overnight but surely you declare just before the mornings play starts. Presumably you have to give 10 minutes notice, so by 10.50?

Yeah, we need to declare at 10:49, but the term is still overnight.

I know Wood is not out and could conceivably score a quick 20 or 30 runs, but he may not and we may waste 5 or 10 minutes scoring not many and then another 10 minutes for change of innings, so we have to declare before play starts?
