Really strange game. Those drops and loose bowling in the first innings and then a stuttering batting effort. Until those two took control.
To be 9 down at lunch and end up avoiding the fiollow on and getting 4 batting points is surreal.

Presumably Bedders will play, given that we only have 2 OS players for once.... and I further presume that Kasey Jones will play. Stokes will drop out of that side and McK can't play for 8 days. Unless Rhodes doesn't play, then someone will be disappointed. We'd have to be daft not to play the IBR, surely, and Potts will play, otherwise what was the point of giving him a week off last week? Maybe Raine gets Friday off, given that we were thinking about resting him the other day

I'd only give Aldridge the ball in extremis, because I reckon he might go round the park.... besides, he seems to be a very reliable catcher. So often when we drop catches, it's because he is bowling and not catching

2nds T20 v Lancs today

Lancs had a second XI out, but we took the opportunity to get some proper practice in.

Clark, Lees, Bedders, Aldridge, Ackermann, Robbo, Rhodes, Potts, Drissell, Ghafari, Minto

We had some wayward bowling. Minto, Aldridge and even Potts bowled a lot of legside wides. 7 and 8 ball overs for Kasey, a 9 ball over for Pottsy and a 10 ball over for Minto, who bowled pretty well in the PP, but had a horror show at the death. Lancs contrived to get to 158 with an awful lot of extras. As I suspected, Aldridge went for plenty 0-36 in his 4, so I wouldn't be too keen on bowling him. Rhodes was the polar opposite 2-7 from his 2 overs. Old George bowled with a fair bit of control even in the PP, Ghafari less so

We knocked off the 159 in 12 overs and we should have done it in 11. Clarky missed out second ball getting a leading edge that went straight up. Bedders went off like a rocket.... goodness.... carnage .... fours and sixes everywhere. Brought up his 50 in 19 balls and it was a real surprise when he holed out on the boundary in the 70's, because it looked for all money that he would go on and score a hundred in about 30 balls..... we need have no fears batting him at 3, he was magnificent. Leesy was happy to rotate, but then he exploded himself and raced away to 60 something in 20 odd balls. Aldridge, Ackers and Robbo scratted about for singles, but got us there between them, but none looked remotely fluent.

Bedders and Lees got us to 98-1 at the end of the PP..... 98! *modded* me
