By all accounts Mrs Gidman wants to move back to the Native North-East, so it may well be a contest between Durham and Yorkshire.

Be a great appointment for Yorkshire, but at the same not overly disappointing to miss out due to the current squad strength.

Wonder if Foakes sees his future as a keeper/batsman or just as a specialist batsman? If it's the former a move to a county where the captain is keeper seems unusual especially with Davies also there, I know he has taken a break from keeping but assume he hasn't given up the gloves for good.
Wilson has done very well so-even if he loses the captaincy ( no reason why he should imo)-he will surely remain the first choice keeper.

Perhaps Wilson is going to stop keeping, it not it seems to be a strange move.

Somerset's Chris Jones is retiring at the end of the season to pursue an academic career. If scoring a century against the Aussies was a career highlight then the lowlight must be when he captained Durham University in the game against Durham when they were bowled out for about 18.

I wonder if Newell being a selector will make it easier to sign players who have England aspirations.
