the ECB have sandwiched in a test match against Ireland next year, and seemingly we're one of the counties in the frame to get it
I hope we don't tbh. It appears that Notts have a 'fallow year' payment arranged with the ECB which they are reluctant to give up by hosting a test match at TB
a fallow year payment?
so let me get this straight.... we had to pay the ECB through the nose for a deadbeat test against SL on the understanding that if we didn't, we wouldn't get an ashes test.... and Notts get payments from the ECB for not hosting a test match
Major Major's father didn't grow alfalfa and the more alfalfa he didn't grow, the more he made in govt subsidies for not growing it. The classic catch 22
the really good news is that Hampshire fancy having it, so we might be overlooked. If Hampshire do get it, then doubtless the ECB will be giving us a fallow year payment as well
