Apart from Sowter. I keep forgetting about him for some reason.

Sowter is only our player during the dribble, of course, so he's not really one of ours in August

It isn't surprising I hadn't realised that Carse had played 3 times for the Yorkshire Wedon'tdothatanymores. Today was the first time he'd had a bat and he'd only bowled 10 balls in earlier matches for a cost of 21 runs

Harmy was on the cricket collective interviewing Bedders last week. I listened to it earlier. He was asked about his change of heart over playing for SA, the reasons for which I already knew about, but it was suggested he might very well get an opportunity to play test cricket in Feb, when SA tour NZ at the same time that most SA players will be playing in their new domestic T20 comp. He is indeed hopeful of that, so then he was asked how that would affect his Durham career and he said that the SA schedule as it stands means that if he was to end up playing for SA then it would only affect the month of August in 2024. Fair enough. I was a bit worried that we might end up losing him and perhaps that was the reason for signing Ackermann, but it seems we might be okay with him for at least another year

Sounds as if it was his decision, understandable but the squad was already lacking in depth.

we won't be lacking in spin options next year, though, so it just depends on what sort of player the club thinks he is. I saw him as a decent batsman who offered something with the ball and if the club saw him that way too, then he had a chance. Clearly they saw him as a spinner who could bat a bit and with Ackers and Parky in the side as all format players, then there isn't really a place for him. It's a shame, because I liked him, but with those two in the side, Trev was always going to be a 2nd XI player and he clearly wants to be more than that, which is perfectly understandable.... and laudable

Yes, I also think of him as a batter who bowls but think you're right that the club regarded him as a bowler first.

Going to be a very different looking side that we put out next week. No Potts or Carse (England), no Bdl (NL). Parky stays for the last 2 games and we've signed a SL seamer Fernando for the last 2 games also.

Yes, think it's a good move to bring in a seamer just in case Worcestershire and Leicestershire start doing something extraordinary. Leicestershire on course for max bowling points but - looking at the table - they ( and Worcestershire) haven't picked up too many batting points.

we need 5 points to guarantee promotion, but that assumes that Leics pick up maximum points in their last 3 games. If Leics don't pick up 20 points in this game v Sussex, then we are promoted this week

Leicestershire 80/6 so it could happen soonish. That's not a prediction.
