I see Poyntless contributed 9 to the current total of 412/9 - although that's 9 more than Clark

We have a very promising wk/ batsman in Tom Macintosh but he's only 17 and at present too inexperienced to deputise at CC level. So I suppose that's the point of Poytnless.

Yes, that can be the only reason.

and to sweeten the deal we could send them to Baldy Bigotted Boof with plenty of boxes of matches in their pockets. A gesture I'm sure he would appreciate whilst also giving him the option of denying any knowledge of it later

Yeh, but give BBB plenty of notice so he has time to rehearse the crocodile tears.

Carse " unavailable" - question is why? Whether the returning 100 players should be playing is one thing but why not explain why he is unavailable.

positive covid test so presumably will also miss Surrey fixture

Unfortunate timing. We'll never know of course but I think we'd have won the final if he had played, even worse timing if he was in line for the test match.

Surrey match is off after one of their players tested positive for covid! Seems absolutely ridiculous- but the " required isolation protocols", rather than Surrey , are to blame. Those protocols will have to be ditched but no doubt the season will be over before they are!
