I'm working on Tuesday, as I was today, but I would probably only jinx things if I did go. The last time I tried to go to a hurriedly arranged home semi final, I arrived at the car park in what I thought would be time to watch the whole of the second half, only to find everyone was flooding out. That was Essex, of course..... almost certainly one of the fastest semi finals ever. Okay... that match went our way, but it so very nearly didn't

Having been well placed to win, Essex collapsed somewhat and ended up needing 22 off the final over, which became 21 off 4 balls. Cue Simon Harmer, who hit 3 consecutive sixes off Croft and leaving 3 to find off the final ball....... Could only manage 2 runs off that ball to tie the game. Lancs must have been cacking themselves in the field

Seems as if the tie has knocked out Lancs. It must be down to Gloucestershire ( who have gone through!) having the covid cancelled game resulting in the placings being decided by average points per game.

Apparently our semi-final opponent will only be decided after Saturday's QFs. Presumably this is to minimise travel for the 2 away teams. QFs are Essex v Yorkshire and Surrey v Gloucs. If Yorkshire win suspect we'll play them, otherwise?

what's daft about splitting the knock outs up is that the comp is presumably not being televised, because all the focus is on the rounders. Assuming that is the case, it makes no sense to spread the QF's and SF's over 4 days when 2 would do, so there's your ECB logic for you

Former Durham pair Steel and David keeping Gloucestershire quiet. David played for S.Shields as a youngster, Aussie but qualified for England. Cookie not interested in him whilst at Shields.

But Steel is not currently an ex-player. He's on loan until the end of the season. Question is whether he's eligible to play against his parent club.

Van Meekeren not available for tomorrow because he had signed a deal to play in the CPL before he joined us. Unfortunate because he has done well.
Whoever wins will face Glamorgan in the final.
