White, Hales, now Tredwell. I really don't agree with this aspect of the loan system which allows to play for two different counties at the same time, across different formats.

The loan system and rules that allow teams to parachute brilliant players in for one match per season, is the punchline for the joke that county cricket has become.

If this competition would like to be taken seriously then a transfer window and squad registration rules have to be enforced, and like football, games with international players being taken out of teams at the rate of, say, three or more players, has to result in a tie being called off or delayed.

You wouldn't have Man United v Manchester City playing a Premiership game in an international break!

Yes, hard to disagree with much of that but central contracts give the ECB the power to deprive counties of their better players.

its not just central contracts, for years they had those pointless Lions games ( which thankfully seem to be removed/reduced )

In the interests of fairness ( I would have said the same the other way round, and have done), its pretty unfair for Yorkshire that they play Sussex this week without Root, Balance and Plunkett. Id just seems a little pointless, and unfair on all those teams that had the misfortune of playing against those players.

Say in the unlikely situation we win this game and end near relegation, would it be fair on the teams below that they probably played vastly different teams? and lost as a result of the contributions of players that weren't playing in other games?

Im still massively pee'd off with Sangakarra's transfer to Durham just before we played them. :angry

Tredwell 29 n.o. v Yorks must have gone to strengthen the Sussex batting.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

The loan scenario only makes a mockery of 2nd XI cricket.

Whilst the idea of postponing County Cricket matches due to international call ups is a good idea in theory, there is a very limited timescale to rearrange matches with the domestic season so short and international players being told to rest in between matches.

The only immediate solutions are to scale back on the number of matches played, or allow counties affected to sign overseas players as cover. Maybe implementing an exchange programme with test nations to visit England in the next 12 months. Say Sussex lose Chris Jordan to the India test series, they can bring in an Australian or Kiwi bowling equivalent. A longer term solution is World Class coaching across the domestic system, allowing players to develop to a high standard so if a player is lost to England duty there is an alternative option waiting in the wings.

Yorks have let a promising situation slip here. Especially with batting not being their strongest hand.
