Pretty fair that. Hales scores 167 vs us, doesnt play vs Hampshire...... Taylor scores 291 and 57 not out vs us, not playing vs Hampshire. Yorkshire without internationals play Hampshire last week, this week welcome back the boys, Sussex is in town. Not sure why some players are rested and others or not, other than someone having an interest in the last games of the CC. And people complain that the county championship is dying, look no further than this for a reason. It really is an abomination of a competition.

So we might get relegated based on the whimsy of the ECB's rather nontransparent level of thinking. Could you imagine a relegation game in the Premier League where England called up two star players from one team playing in a deciding game, only to inexplicably released players to another team???

Well no, I couldnt at all.... but then the Premier League is a world class competition, not some irrelevant piece of turd played out to a few sleeping old men in deck-chairs. :angry

Nothing is killing CC cricket, its committing suicide.

Plunkett, Rashid and Bairstow were made available against Hampshire. Yorkshire opted to rest the England trio given they would arrive at Southampton overnight after playing in the 5th Australia ODI at Old Trafford.

Struggling to see the logic in resting any player this week, you would think Hales needs game time after not playing red ball cricket for a month and a poor ODI series against Australia. Once again England will be going into another series with an undercooked opener.

Middlesex 8 down now.

4 to Gabriel. I saw him in action last week and he was fast. I bet Worcs wish they had him from the start of the season.

Ryan Stevenson sent out as an opening nightwatchman in place of Carberry to open with Adams and Broad has him caught behind first ball then stumps are called :no.

Let's just ignore the fact that Broad is available, and playing, for Notts. Lets go with one eyed view.

(Not to mention AP correctly pointing out that Rashid, Plunkett and Bairstow all not playing last week had nothing to do with the ECB. They made those three players available. Yorkshire decided not to pick them. The only player the ECB rested was Joe Root, and they've done the same again this week. But don't let the facts get in the way or anything).

The inconsistency StB is that ECB have made Plunkett and Rashid available but Taylor and Hales unavailable and both pairs have had identical England commitments. That's not equable.

I take it the two eyed view doesnt mention the fact that Hampshire avoided the biggest run scorer in the league this year, the person with the highest average this year, and the person with the biggest individual score in the division along with the highest career average out of current England players in FC? While Sussex get them, along with the premier rated English spinner and a test match quality bowler who can also bat.

But thats perfectly fair, right? Seriously Brendy, you think that is right for the ECB to inconsistently release players for games when, as far as I see it, there is no reason for some to be picked and others to be not. They should be all available or not.

As for the "they were available for the Hampshire game", where they really going to finish a match in the evening of Sunday and make it down to Southampton at any decent hour enough to wake up and play?

Yorks gave Sussex a massive piece of assistance in the last game by not agreeing to a fair final day target against us so rollocks to all this nonsense about who they've selected for this final game. Broad will probably rip through us tomorrow, not sure how many games he's played this season!

Don't worry Sussex no need to get so uptight (again!), your lot are pretty safe the way it stands right now. In a strange way I'll be slightly relieved to get back down to division 2 next season, might win a few more games!
