So Yorkshire will be without Plunkett,Rashid and Bairstow on Wednesday and Middlesex without Finn which probably strengthens them.

Along with Aaron Finch (or an overseas replacement)

From the Somerset game, I reckon Leaning will come in for Finch (who was unfortunate to have got dropped in the first place) and Hodd for Bairstow.

Lees, Lyth, Leaning, Gale, Ballance, Hodd, Bresnan, Middlebrook, Patterson, Brooks, Sidebottom. A capable enough line up to get a result at Lords and retain the County Championship.

Now that would be a record that would stick around for decades, never mind years........ perhaps even generations.

It would be very cool if they could do it. It has been most impressive the way they have taken misfits and sicknotes from all around the country and turned them into champions

That's an interesting point, what is the most points scored for a County Championship title winning side?

257 by Sussex, apparently..... which surprised me, because I thought it would have been more than that. The hard part for Yorks in the 300 point race will be their own motivation (they only need 6 points to retain their title). When Durham romped to the title in 2010 with 2 matches to spare, they were unable to win those last 2 matches. With the title secured, Yorks might struggle to win their last 2 as well.

Seem to remember a County Championship win was worth 14pts (albeit a draw worth 7pts) before the ECB changed the points system in 2010 to give a greater incentive to win.

Motivation wise Yorkshire will be keen to end the season unbeaten and Dizzy won't allow the players to ease off. 59pts in the 3 remaning matches during September is a tough ask, at least one game is bound to be interrupted by the weather. Just setting a new points record is sure to be an achievement in itself.

I turned the tv on wondering if York v Middx or Somerset v Hants might be on. Would have been good end of season games to have shown.

Middx 5-3!

Triple wicket maiden for Sidebottom in the first over, including Compo and Dawan. No hat trick though.

Siders has 4-3 now. Good decision made at the toss (I suppose Middx had to make sure there wasn't a draw with the pitch).

Wicket for Tim. Actually, given Yorks are taking points off Middx, Yorks win today if they bowl them out for under 300.

Could be today if Middlesex are bowled out for less than 300 and Notts less than 400.
