Excerpt from Franklin's match verdict
"But we are a team that can compete in this division and push for promotion, and that is what we will have to do again next year."
Doesn't appear to have substantial recruitment in mind.

It doesn't. Thing about division 2 imo is you have to be almost totally inept not to compete. Some of our unlikely victories were incredibly impressive fightbacks but perhaps also an indication that the opponents weren't very good. Real progres would be to have a team dominate the division and that requires recruitment.

According to the 2019 handbook we currently have 12 players contracted for next season and that includes Weighell and Clark neither of whom have had a look in at red ball cricket recently.
Judging by the number of wicketkeeper we've been trialling Poytner isn't being offered a new contract nor has anything been said about a new one for Rimmington.
We surely can't be planning on relying on that shallow a squad?

Let's hope not. It'd probably result in us becoming the first team to get a FTECB penalty for not reaching the minimum salary figure!

spotted this in the preamble about the Hundred

The gap in Australia's schedule also means that some of their Test specialists will hope to secure county deals. Several counties are understood to have enquired about Nathan Lyon's availability, while several of those who had deals this year will plan to extend them into 2020.

The important factor being
"From 1 February 2020, the start of the ECB 2020 Financial Year, those on White Ball contracts will move from receiving a supplement on top of their County salary, to having their salaries paid in full by the ECB as per Test contracted players."

Another player off our wage bill then which, from 30th September, must be miniscule and well below even the current minimum salary ceiling.

they could always boost their salary costs by paying us to watch. We definitely should have been paid for enduring the second half of the T20 campaign

maybe the plan is to give massive pay rises to the backroom staff to compensate for the absence of players

Maybe give Poynter a bumper contract to persuade him to abandon Ireland!

Excellent news. As DFM has said before you do wonder how the season would have panned out had he not been called into The Ashes squad.
