If some ways we've got away with it with regard to that Essex match. Leciester are so bad, that Essex were always going to win that one and with maximum bowling points. It was just a case of how many batting points. Three out of five, it could have been worse.

We need 13 more points (in addition to our one bowling point in this game) this season to force Essex to have to beat Worcs. We need 23 more points (in addition to our one bowling point in this game) to make whatever Essex do against Worcs a total irrelevance.

Rileys current figures of 8-0-37-0 would agree with them.

Vince looked in fine form today. The young lad Alsop who joined him near the close stood up ably to an aggressive ring of close fielders. He had 7 around him in the last over a real baptism of fire which he did well to come through.

We need a few youngsters to come good and take their first team opportunities, the likes of Adams, Carberry, and Ervine won't go on for ever, and we will have to replace them at some time. Vince is the last player to really break through and that was 4 or 5 seasons ago now.

oh, well Wood averages 90 this year, so he could count.

We do have a few good'uns at the moment though. Alsop, McManus and Terry to name a few.

I guess their opportunities at playing for the first team rely on injury or international call ups so it must be tough for these guys to stay motivated.

Vince passed his 5000 FC runs late in the last session yesterday & must be about 20-30 (?) behind Mitchell who leads CC2.
However if we make CC1 whether Vince can make scoring look so easy will probably be a huge factor in whether we can compete at that level. I fear that Briggs, Tommo & Co may struggle for wickets but hopefully the oldhands such as Carbs, Jimmy & Slug have some more gas in their motors.Players such as Collingwood & some of the Lancs old guard are still performing at CC1 standard.
