I'm not even sure that Carberry and Vince at their best could match this opening partnership here. Ball flying to all parts, and Roy (I mean, Surrey) is strolling this.

Thank you.

Whilst it is our fifth Finals Day in a row, it is arguably the one where we least deserve to win it. Even in 2010, when we also had a dodgy group stage and were lucky to get through in the end, we at least finished that group stage fairly strongly (a bit like Warks this season) and then powered our way through.

Somerset, Glamorgan and even Middlesex all came to our place this season and won, whilst Gloucs and Sussex were both exceptionally close to taking the points away with them. And yet out of those five, only Glamorgan were good enough to qualify for the QFs.

Not sure how much of a factor it is but Hants experience of finals day might be significant, may even help that you're not going in as favourites?
Article in The Times today lists the most successful domestic t20 sides( based on minimum of 100 matches)

1. CSK with 80 wins from 134 matches-win percentage 60.90%
2. Hampshire 74 from 136-59.37%
3. Lancashire 73 from 122-62.91%
4. Mumbai Indians 73 from 129-57.48%
5. Somerset 71 from 144-53.30%

Sat in sunny Truro, forgot the cricket was on.

Not good today, but at least now we can concentrate on CC promotion, come on Hants.

Not sure what Bournemouth were doing in the first half hour today, bloody hell.

Can't say that we hadn't been warned. When two of Carberry, Vince and Adams fail, we fail. We haven't had a middle order all season.

Had Hales not dropped Vince, no doubt we'd have been bowled out for very little in the QF too.

Threat of rain arguably cost us, as opposed to the rain itself. It's what made Vince decide to bowl (and fair enough, D/L can often work in the favour of the team batting second - just look at how it helped Somerset whilst screwing us back in our 2011 SF). But ultimately we are primary a bat first side.

Vince went and sat in the dressing room alone today for the majority of the innings when he got out, on the other side of the ground to the dugout.

The curse of beating Hampshire. Unless Lancs can turn this around, it will be the fourth time in sixth years that the side who has knocked us out in the t20 will have then gone and lost their very next KO game. In fact, they've generally been thrashed in their next KO game.

And of course in those other two years, there was no team who knocked us out.

Hey ho another 250+ miles round trip to edgebaston ends in disappointment. We haven't got any excuses, but I do think coming off when Lancs were 6-2 helped them regroup, and the revised 16 over target seems harsh and rattled the team. Certainly the Lanky supporters around me couldn't believe their luck.
Still a fun day with pretty much 1000 runs scored. Seeing Roy hit 6 boundaries in an over was worth it alone.
Now for the championship.........

Hants lose :no
Bournemouth lose :no :no

Anyone notice how often players imported in for Finals Day are a waste of space?

Today KP (lucky to get double figures as a six was droppped over the line) & Owais Shah came up short. Plenty of others in the past as well.
In The Cricket Paper Hampshire's behaviour was questioned - notably Coles (waste of time yesterday) & Wheater.

agree pretty much with Jesters.

I've never felt so much for a player as I did for Matt Coles , he looked completely shellshocked at the end of his last over.

I was more than happy to lend my support to Lancs in the final , their fans around me showed infinatly more class than those of the local team who just seemed to want to provoke a row.

BTW Jester's my disguise worked and I went home with a lot more money than I expected !!!!!!

Andrew Hall ( or Andre Wall as our tannoy guy called him ) released by Northants, I wonder if we would look to sign him as a coach/back-up ?

White says Hants have to put their performance at Finals Day right behind them and concentrate on the promotion run-in starting with the Leics match on Sunday.

Despite an impressive start to the season, if Hants fail to get promotion then I wonder if many supporters will remember it - I think most will think of it as an opportunity missed & if we can't finish in the top 2 in Div 2 then even with a relatively mature team - esp the batting - we may continue to struggle to go up.

We are getting better though, only lost 1 game this season, and on another day we would of won that.
